2011 Vestry Academy
Saturday, March 19, 2011 - 10:00 AM until 3:30 PM at St. Crispin's Conference Center, 36302 State Highway 9, Wewoka, OK 74884.
This event is open to all vestry members.The primary focus of this conference is the vestry person's role as a leader in the responsible stewardship of ministry and only secondarily with conducting the business affairs of the church.
The $20 per participant registration fee includes the Vestry Resource Guide, additional material to be distributed during the conference, and lunch at St. Crispin's.

New Camp and Conference Center Directors Settling In

It only took two weeks but Mike and Joanne Roberts and their children are now at St. Crispin's. Joanne and the children, Parker and Sydney, made it the Monday before the first snow, and Mike was able to come in the next week. They also have two dogs, Blue and Black! They have been spending time getting their children enrolled in school, and getting settled into the house. Please be sure to meet and welcome them the next time you are at Camp.

Oklahoma Commission of Episcopal Schools Meets
The OECS met on Friday, February 18th, at St. Crispin's for their regular meeting. The group invited Sabrina Evans to come and review the Principles of Good Practice for the Study of Religion in Episcopal Schools.

Benedectine Monks Lead Monastic Experience in Dallas
The 14th annual multi-denominational Dallas Benedictine Monastic Experience will take place at The Catholic Conference Center in Dallas from Wednesday, June 22 to Sunday, June 26, 2011. This monastic retreat is presented by The Friends of St. Benedict, Washington, D.C. and is open to both men and women, laity and clergy of all denominations. Participants will live on the campus of the center for five days, forming a temporary monastic community to experience the balanced way of life of The Rule of St. Benedict as it divides each day into private and group prayer, study, work, and leisure. Four Benedictine Offices (Lauds, Sext, Vespers, and Compline) will be chanted each day in English in Gregorian Chant. There will also be two classes each day on Benedictine spirituality. The retreat will be led by two nationally-known Benedictine monks. Brother Abraham Newsom, O.S.B., a Texas native, is a monk at St. Gregory's Abbey (Episcopal) in Three Rivers, Michigan. The Very Rev. Robert Hale, O.S.B.Cam, is a Roman Catholic Camaldolese Benedictine monk. He was superior for twelve years of New Camaldoli Monastery in Big Sur, California. Both Father Robert and Brother Abraham will give presentations on Benedictine values and their applications to life today. Both monks are also available for private spiritual meetings for those who wish it.

Mission Camp 2011
Mission Camp will be offered beginning March 14 through the 18th. We already have several trips to congregations to do work and look forward to this being a time of fun community and completed projects. Registration forms are now out on the web. Anti-Racism Training to be Offered
All clergy who have not had anti-racism training are required to have this training. It will be offered on Saturday, March 12th, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. here at the Diocesan Offices. We do not have any additional training scheduled other than this date, as we are brining in outside leaders for the training. Please notify Sabrina Evans if you will be attending so we may prepare for lunches.

Rebuild Our Church in Haiti
Lots of churches are planning fundraisers for the Rebuild Our Church in Haiti campaign during Lent or Eastertide. A new batch of resources has gone up on the church center's website: http://www.episcopalchurch.org/blogs/HaitiAppeal/?page_id=26 or at our website: www.LeaderResources.org/hopeforhaiti. There's a bunch of free downloads there as well as the "Hope for Haiti" curriculum and Fundraiser Guide which has lesson plans for all ages that you can use for Lent programs, incorporate into Sunday School or even for VBS. If you are into cupcakes (the latest trend), you'll find recipes and ideas for a cupcake fundraiser.
